Deciding whether to make the switch to an electric or hybrid vehicle? There are some pretty nice incentives if you do! The Maryland EV tax credit extends several credits and rebates to those who drive Zero-Emission Vehicles (ZEVs). Electric Incentives
The Maryland EV tax credit is available to drivers who drive Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) and Plug-In Hybrid Electric Vehicles (PHEVs). As of July 1st, 2023, through June 30th, 2027, EV and hybrid drivers may be eligible to receive Maryland EV tax credit incentives for qualifying Zero Emission Vehicles. In addition to the perks you receive with the Maryland tax credit, there are some other advantages you can expect. Due to the electric motor, you get to surpass the state Emissions Inspection. You can also contact the Maryland Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Administration to receive a permit to commute in the HOV lanes at any time.
What Is A Qualifying EV or PHEV?
There are certain factors that determine whether an electric or hybrid vehicle is eligible for the Maryland EV tax credit. The electric or hybrid plug-in vehicle must have the following specifications:
- EV or PHEV cannot be modified from the original manufacturer
- EV or PHEV cannot exceed the sales price limit of $50,000.00
- EV motor must draw electricity from a battery with a minimum capacity of 5 kilowatt-hours
- EV or PHEV must be purchased between July 1, 2023, and June 30, 2027
Leased EVs can also qualify for the Maryland EV Tax Credit if they adhere to the state qualifications. As for company owners, your business can qualify for up to ten EVs under the tax credit.
State & Federal Tax Credits
